What do the Olympics, leap years and #BCME9 all have in common? They are all part of my blog yes, but they are also SPECIAL events. Why? Because they only happen once every four years! (With the exception of the leap year; technically that happens MOST four years, but there is an exception every hundred years or so). Anyway, the point ... these aren't something we see each year!

Therefore, they should be CELEBRATED!!

For those that don't know #BCME9 is the largest celebration of maths in the UK. It is a conference held every four years to celebrate those involved in maths - whether teaching, lecturing, working or simply partaking for enjoyment. It gathers like minded people for three days and nights, putting on formal sessions in the day, informal evening activities and fantastic after dinner talks.

Now for those who follow the blog, you will know that we get involved with lots of different events. And BCME was no different; as soon as the calls for proposals for sessions were open we jumped at the chance, along with signing our name up to exhibit from the beginning!

We've met some great people; I've had the chance to chat to other exhibitors (Casio in particular - so excited to work together!!), JMC members and of course delegates! We've handed out leaflets, flyers and various information, along with pens, keyrings and rulers (who doesn't love a good freebie?!).

For me, it's the first BCME conference I've been to. I'm sure there's been a lot of hardwork behind the scenes (these things don't organise themselves) but I can say that it has all paid off - well organised, well run and (perhaps more importantly, good food!). Kudos to the guys who organised it; you've done awesome!!
